(KRON) — Cops, firefighters and the general public will face off in a donut-eating contest held at the Santa Cruz Wharf on Aug. 5.

The event will be held in celebration of the 2025 National Night Out, an annual free event designed to strengthen relations between police and local communities.

“Who can eat a donut faster with no hands? A Cop, a Firefighter or you? Find out and sign up for our donut-eating contest at the event!” the Santa Cruz Police Department announced.

The Night Out event lasts from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and the donut-eating contest will take place at 6:30 p.m. People can sign up for the contest in-person at the event. Sign-ups close 10 minutes before the contest begins.

The event will also feature:

  • Games: Dunk Tank, Corn Hole, Bocce Ball, yard games and more
  • Entertainment: DJ music, crafts, and interactive demonstrations
  • Free ice cream: Have a free kids scoop during “cone with a cop” at Marini’s Candies from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., while supplies last
  • More: Explore police and firefight vehicles and other surprises
