Magic: The Gathering has only just kicked off its Edge of Eternities set today, but already, fans are itching for fresh information about the upcoming Spider-Man
And, while we only have limited cards revealed so far, we’re getting something a little new as Hasbro works in some of that corporate synergy we all love so much.
A new set of Marvel’s Spider-Man Marvel Legends figures is available for pre-order at Amazon, but the kicker here is that each will come with its corresponding Magic: The Gathering card.
It’s a cool idea, but at $39.99 each, they’re hardly cheap. Still, given there are no Commander Decks for the Spidey set, maybe this will be a neat substitute to have on store shelves instead. All cards included are foils, which is nice.
As you’d expect, Spidey himself is included in the lineup, and this Spectacular variant is sporting some battle damage with a torn suit.
This two-cost card has Flash and can gain flying or make your other creatures hexproof and indestructible when sacrificed.
The other inclusions were a little out of left field, we must admit. Iron Spider, Stark Upgrade has Mary Jane donning the suit, and her card has Vigilance and taps to power up artifact creatures or vehicles, or turns that power to card draw.
Next up, Man-Wolf is a 4/4 Werewolf with Trample and a transformation mechanic. It’s a reprint of Ravager of the Fells, just with a Spidey twist.
Finally, and we’ve saved the best for last, Anti-Venom, Horrifying Healer reanimates cards and turns damage into power. His figure looks awesome, too.
