Monroe Police Department to welcome back officer shot in the line of duty

MONROE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The Monroe Police Department announced the return of the police officer who was shot and injured in the line of duty during an incident on May 31, 2025.

After a courageous recovery, she will officially return to light duty on Monday, August 4. To honor her return, she will be escorted to the department by a fellow officer.

Her strength and resilience has inspired all of us. We are grateful to have her back with our team and thankful for the outpouring of community support during her recovery.

The officer sustained severe injuries while bravely serving the community, and her return is a moment of healing and celebration for the officers, the department and the City of Monroe.
