Shomari Betancourt was charged on Thursday with attempted murder, aggravated assault, and related offenses.
On July 27, just before 5:30 a.m., police responded to the intersection of Roberts Avenue and Stokley Street following reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two people with gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old woman was shot in the head, taken to Temple University Hospital, and is listed in critical condition. The second victim, a 23-year-old man, was also taken to Temple University Hospital after getting shot in the leg. He is listed in stable condition, according to police.
Less than an hour later, a third victim, a 33-year-old man, arrived at Roxborough Memorial Hospital as a “walk-in” with a gunshot wound to his face. He was then taken to Einstein Medical Center for further treatment and is in stable condition.
Later that morning around 8:00 a.m., Philadelphia police said Shomari Betancourt arrived at Nazareth Hospital as a “walk-in” with a gunshot wound to his left arm. He was detained and taken into custody based on an active warrant for domestic assault.
