MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – Madison police said a man, who stole copper, was arrested after a chase early Friday morning.

Investigators said an officer attempted to stop a 2023 Chevrolet Malibu on Interstate 55 southbound near the 108 mile marker just before 1:30 a.m. on August 1. They said the vehicle failed to stop and led officers on a chase onto the Natchez Trace and continued to Port Gibson Road in Hinds County.

Police said additional agencies responded, and the vehicle came to a rest off of Highway 18 near Chapel Hill Road where the driver fled into a wooded area. The driver was identified as Jadarius White, of Lorman.

Investigators said they later located White at his girlfriend’s home in Lorman where he was arrested without incident. His vehicle was processed, and investigators said several large spools of copper wire utilized in construction were discovered inside the vehicle, as well as a firearm.
