Delta flight DL56 encountered significant turbulence, and 25 people on board were transported to the hospital once the flight safely landed at MSP.
Medical personnel were waiting to meet the flight when it arrived in order to evaluate both passengers and crew. 25 people were then taken to the hospital for further evaluation and care.
“We are grateful for the support of all emergency responders involved,” Delta said in a statement. “Safety is our No. 1 value at Delta, and our Delta Care Team is working directly with customers to support their immediate needs.”
A couple on board spoke with ABC News describing the terrifying moments. “The plane rose rapidly, up about 500 feet, and then did somewhat of a nose dive very rapidly down about 1,500 feet…. There was a moment where we thought we were going down. I’m still shaken about it. It was very scary,” they said.
They added that one lady in particular ended up with some fractured ribs. “One young lady in particular, I believe she got thrown up twice to the ceiling and down and landed on people.”
The FAA is now investigating the incident.
