The move comes in response to House Bill 85, recently signed into law by Gov. Jeff Landry, which requires municipalities and parishes across Louisiana to regulate roofing work more closely.
Cities and parishes must make sure that all roof construction and re-roofing projects follow the new state building codes.
In Zachary, anyone who wants to replace or re-roof their roof must get a permit. They also need to pass an inspection to follow the new codes.
For more info or to apply for a permit, go to www.cityofzachary.org. You can also reach City Inspector Scott Masterson at 225-654-6873.
