Douglas Wayne Kelsey, 33, was arrested just after 2 p.m. on Thursday at a home in unincorporated Clackamas County, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said.
Kelsey was then taken to a local hospital for minor injuries sustained during the arrest, officials said. He was booked into jail later that evening on multiple robbery charges and other alleged crimes.
The arrest, carried out by a Clackamas County Interagency SWAT Team, came after the sheriff’s office obtained a search warrant for the home in the 7700 block of SE Lamphier Street. It was part of an investigation of a robbery of a Denny’s restaurant early Monday morning.
Just after 1:30 a.m. on Monday, the sheriff’s office responded to reports of a robbery at the restaurant at 12101 SE 82nd Ave., near Happy Valley, in unincorporated Clackamas County. A man reportedly used a handgun to rob an employee, placing cash into a black bag, then leaving in a blue sedan.
Detectives later identified Kelsey as the alleged suspect based on video surveillance footage from the restaurant, officials said.
Kelsey is accused of first- and second-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, first-degree theft and menacing. He was booked into the Clackamas County Jail on Thursday evening, without bail.
