Summer heat continues for Acadiana
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – After starting the morning with pretty quiet conditions around Acadiana and only a few coastal showers, the big story will once again be the summer heat that builds in fast. Temperatures will likely reach 90 by lunchtime and then low and mid 90s during the afternoon hours. Showers and storms will develop to cool a few locations down, lasting into the evening hours. One or two storms could be strong or severe with gusty winds, hail, heavy rain, and frequent lightning. Some rain could linger into the evening hours before coming to an end overnight where our temperatures settle in the 70s.

The tropics are quiet right now, but there are hints that they could be waking soon. A few tropical waves in the Atlantic will continue to work westward, and as they approach the U.S., some models are suggesting the potential for development. For now, we have no concerns to monitor through the next week.
