Aaron Wiggins, a guard for the Oklahoma City Thunder, was a key contributor for OKC all season. His 12.0 points per game average was the fourth-highest on the team, despite the fact that he only started in 26 of the 76 games he appeared in,
He played a major role in the Thunder’s Game 2 victory over the Indiana Pacers. He scored 18 points in just 21 minutes and made 5 three-pointers. OKC went on to win the series against the Pacers in 7 games.
It was a career year for Wiggins, who scored a career high 41 points in a game during the 2024-25 season, his fourth with the Thunder. In July 2024, he agreed to a 5-year, $45 million contract extension with the team.
Before Wiggins was performing on the world’s largest basketball stage, he was starring at a pair of Triad high schools.
For the first three years of his high school career, Wiggins played for the Grimsley High School varsity basketball team before finishing his high school career at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, according to MaxPreps.
Now, Wiggins will be returning to the place where he finished his high school career to host a free youth basketball camp for 100 kids in the Triad.
The camp is for children between grades 3-8 and will feature Wiggins as well as special guest coaches working with kids on basketball skill training.
“It really goes beyond basketball, we want to empower these kids with confidence for all areas of their life,” said Wiggins. “We can show them what teamwork looks like, what it looks like to be a leader, lessons that will hopefully stick with them down the road.”
The camp will be held at Wesleyan Christian Academy on 922 Eastchester Drive in High Point on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Registration is closed.
