
According to the Scottsville Police Department, officers responded to an injury crash at the intersection of U.S. 31-E and Highway 231 shortly after 3:45 a.m. on Thursday, July 31.
Officials said a 2003 Peterbilt was traveling north on U.S. 31-E when a 2023 Toyota heading east on Highway 231 failed to stop at a red light, resulting in a collision with the semi in the intersection.
During their investigation, authorities said they discovered 229 grams of THC gummies, 137 grams of marijuana, 26.7 grams of cocaine, hydrocodone, amphetamines, and “other items consistent with trafficking in narcotics.”
Police said the driver of the Toyota — identified as 37-year-old Brandon T. Cox of Scottsville — was arrested for the following charges after being released from The Medical Center at Scottsville:
- Operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance
- Disregarding traffic controlled device
- Reckless driving
- First-degree wanton endangerment
- First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (cocaine)
- First-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (hydrocodone)
- First-degree trafficking in marijuana
- First-degree possession of a controlled substance (unspecified drug)
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Possession of an open alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle
- No registration
- Failure to produce insurance
- Prescription not in proper container
According to the Allen County Detention Center, Cox is being held on a $2,000 bond for operating a vehicle under the influence and no bond for seven other charges, but the last three offenses from the afore-mentioned list are not included in the jail records.
No additional details have been released about this incident.
