There is no opening date set at this time as Modo is undergoing city inspections. The San Francisco location marks the company’s second location, adding to the Santa Clara spot located at 2000 El Camino Real.
According to Yelp, the space was previously occupied by Go Go Kare, a Japanese curry restaurant. The upcoming Modo location is across the street from McCoppin Square Park.
Modo teased about opening a new location back on July 15 in an Instagram post. Comments on the post were clamoring for a new location to open in the Bay Area.
Those Modo fans got their wish.
Modo Hawaii describes itself as the “OG Mochi Donut Concept Shop in the US.” The first location opened in Hawaii back in 2017. Modo has risen in popularity as it boasts more than 31,000 Instagram followers.
This isn’t your typical mochi doughnut shop as Modo’s menu also features a variety of Hawaiian poke. It also serves different flavored coffees and lattes.
Modo has since opened California locations in Torrance, Irvine, Duarte and Fountain Valley. According to Modo, all those shops closed during the pandemic.
