Gen Con returns to Indianapolis this week. The event runs from Thursday, July 31, through Sunday, Aug. 3.
One of the largest annual conventions in Indianapolis, more than 70,000 people are expected to attend. Gen Con drew a record crowd of more than 71,000 attendees last year.
The four-day event celebrates gaming, with a focus on tabletop and role-playing games (RPGs). Video and computer games are also celebrated, along with trading card games.
Things kick off with opening ceremonies at 9 a.m. Thursday in the 500 Ballroom of the Indianapolis Convention Center. The exhibit hall, which features nearly 600 vendors, opens at 10 a.m.
Attendees will find plenty to do, with a number of exhibition booths, a cosplay contest, an art show, a film festival, merchandise booths, special programs and more.
Indianapolis has hosted the event since 2003 and is set to host Gen Con through 2030.
