Battlefield 6 Suffers Significant Leaks Ahead of Official Multiplayer Reveal

Later today (July 31), EA will reveal the first official look at Battlefield

6‘s much-anticipated multiplayer mode. But ahead of that, the shooter has suffered a series of significant leaks.

Not only has part of the new trailer leaked, giving us a firsthand look at the vehicles, destructible environments, and new features and mechanics we can expect when Battlefield 6 releases later this year — rumored to be October — but Insider Gaming has reported open beta release dates.

According to Insider Gaming, there will be three beta tests in August, starting with a 48-hour closed event on August 7. Codes will be obtainable through Twitch drops for fans watching content creator streams during the multiplayer reveal, or by pre-ordering the game. It’s then thought an open beta will go live on August 9 and run for another two days, and then again — this time for 72 hours — August 14-17.

Though not confirmed, it’s thought pre-orders will go live later today after EA presents more details of Battlefield 6’s multiplayer modes.

I suppose we shouldn’t be too surprised about these leaks; everything relating Battlefield 6 has proven to be leaky pretty much since it was first announced, and developer DICE has “loads of feedback from the very active testers selected.” Unlike Battlefield 2042’s lukewarm reception, fans seem pretty pleased with what they’ve seen so far, and for some time, EA wasn’t even trying to take leaked assets down. So far, we’ve seen evidence of a new drag mechanic and the ability to cling to vehicles, as well as improved in-game movement, 3D maps, improved destruction, quality of life improvements, and the start of a battle royale match.

Ahead of EA’s full Battlefield 6 reveal, a brief teaser for the game’s campaign was posted online last week, revealing a major conflict. Set in the near future, Battlefield 6’s campaign will see NATO under attack. Its base in Georgia is hit, the British territory of Gibraltar is invaded, and NATO’s secretary general is assassinated inside the organisation’s Brussels headquarters by a group named Pax Armata.

It’s been a long wait for Battlefield 6. It was first announced way, way back in 2021. Since then, we’ve seen an early piece of concept art and had it confirmed that the game would take place in a modern setting. Despite the rumors, however, it won’t be $80.
