TRAFFIC WATCH: Car catches fire in south Abilene, driver plows into pole across town

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A car caught fire in south Abilene and another plowed into a fence and telephone pole across town during the lunch hour Tuesday.

The first incident happened on the 2600 block of Barrow Street just before noon.

Witnesses say a vehicle caught fire while it was parked in front of the salon and someone was able to move it out of the way before the fire spread to the building. No injuries were reported in connection to this incident, but traffic was blocked on Barrow Street while first responders worked to contain the flames.

Across town in an alley off North Willis Street and North 12th Street, a vehicle plowed into a fence and telephone pole.

Police state a mother was driving her daughter when she suffered a seizure and crashed. The mother was hospitalized due to her medical episode and history of seizures, and her daughter was not injured.

No further information is available on either of this incidents at this time.
