City Manager Robert Perez and City Mayor Mike Padilla are holding a live press conference at 10:30 a.m. on July 29. A recording of the press conference will be added to this article shortly after the meeting concludes.
Perez said work is moving forward for a new multi-million dollar new apartment complex near Topeka’s downtown area. The new Union at Tower District buildings will deliver around 250 two and three-bedroom living units. Perez said this project is one of several ongoing projects that are meant to add more affordable housing for local residents.
Padilla and Perez touched on the progress that is being made with selling the Hotel Topeka. The City of Topeka previously shared it accepted a tentative deal put forward by the Endeavor Hotel Group earlier in the month of July.
