St. Louis County authorities release video of fatal officer shooting of man who started fires, shot at first responders

St. Louis County deadly shooting by deputies

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday released body-worn and squad camera footage of a fatal officer-involved shooting in Normanna Township on July 15.

As previously reported, 57-year-old Adam Clinton Wolf is believed to have started two fires and then shot at first responders. He was killed in an exchange of gunfire with deputies.

First responders were called to an arson on the 6200 block of Heritage Road. A man, later identified as Wolf, was reported to be riding a lawnmower while armed with a rifle-style weapon, authorities said.

Wolf was suspected of starting fires at his home, as well as the homes of two of his neighbors.

A firefighter who had extinguished a fire at the home of one of Wolf’s neighbors reported hearing gunshots and believed he was being shot at. An officer from Duluth Township also reported being shot at when they got to the home.

Deputies found Wolf, and authorities say he fired at them. The deputies fired back, hitting Wolf.

Despite first aid, he died at the scene.

The St. Louis County deputies who fired their weapons during the incident have been identified by the BCA as:

Deputy Matt Miranda

Deputy Forest Lunemann

Deputy Michael Pikul

Investigators found a firearm, spent cartridge casings and “improvised shotgun-type devices” along the roadway.
