According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana, 38-year-old Cory Todd Cox pleaded guilty to two counts of receipt and distribution of child sexual abuse material. After Cox’s prison sentence, Cox will serve a lifetime of supervised release.
On Nov. 28, 2023, Cox sent and received multiple images via text of “graphic depictions of prepubescent minors.” Days later, officers with the Noblesville Police Department searched Cox’s home and recovered three cell phones that he used to look at and send these images. Cox also admitted to having a Dropbox with multiple videos and images of child sexual abuse material.
When Cox was arrested, the release said that Cox was on probation related to a 2017 offense and was a registered sex offender. Cox had previously been convicted of the following crimes:
“Despite his history as a dangerous contact sex offender, the defendant chose to reoffend. His actions ensure that images and videos depicting the sexual abuse of children will circulate in perpetuity, which unequivocally contributes to the trauma experienced by the abused children depicted in his collection,” Tom Wheeler, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana, said in the release. “He has no place in civilized society and will spend the next 15 years in federal prison where he belongs.”
The release said that the U.S. Secret Service, along with the Noblesville Police Department, investigated the case.
