JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – Jackson police said a motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a passenger vehicle on Highway 18.

The incident occurred on Highway 18 near Fulton Place just before 8:45 p.m. on July 29.

According to police, a passenger vehicle was traveling eastbound on the highway and attempted to make a left turn across the westbound lanes. During the turn, police said the vehicle was truck on the passenger side by a westbound motorcycle.

Investigators said the motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

Police said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
