Man rescued from lake near North Side beach overnight

CHICAGO — A man is recovering in the hospital after he was pulled from the water at a North Side beach early Wednesday morning.

According to Chicago police, fire crews pulled the victim, a 39-year-old man, from the water around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, near Kathy Osterman Beach, in the 5800 block of North Jean Baptiste Pointe du Sable Lake Shore Drive in Edgewater.

Following the rescue, the man was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

Officers responded to the scene shortly after the rescue and an investigation into the incident is now underway.

Currently, it is unclear what led up to the incident and no other injuries were reported.
