This comes after the Lake Norman all-star team beat Greenville in a winner-take-all scenario last week.
Assistant coach Dan Griffin said Thursday’s upcoming game will be treated just like any other one they’ve played this year.
“We’re together as a family and a community, and there’s so much support behind us,” Griffin said. “They were composed. You know, they really focused through the whole process and really just allowed their playing taking over instead of their emotions taking over.”
Griffin said it’s important that the Huntersville-based team gets along so well with one another. His son, Reed, is also a member of the team.
“It feels really good representing our whole state and not only our state, our community, having people realize that we were the team to go,” Reed said.
Dan said the quality that makes these boys unique is their bond. He said it’s important that the boys have fun, all while keeping it strong.
“It’s all about having fun, and if you’re not having fun, you’re not going to win.”
The boys plan to take this positive, fun energy to the Southeast Regional in Warner Robbins, Georgia, to face West Virginia Thursday at 1 p.m. You can watch the game on ESPN+.
