Individual raises concerns on Bangerter Highway intersection, after car accident
WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — A West Valley City resident raised concerns about the intersection at 4100 S and Bangerter Highway after crashing into the median on Sunday.
Jade Crawford shared her concerns about the intersection after she crashed into the median at this intersection. A pole hit her fuel tank, causing her vehicle to catch fire. She was not injured, though she was shaken up.
Crawford said, “I just remember looking in my rear view. It is a clear image I’ll probably never get out of my head. There was a trail of fire behind me.”

According to Crawford, she could not see the lane lines or the median that separated the turning lane until it was too late. There was no sign, she said.
“I could have lost my life on Sunday night just because I couldn’t see a median,” she said.
This intersection was missing a sign after a vehicle hit it last week. A Utah Department of Transportation spokesperson told ABC4 that the median has yellow reflective paint, and the sign was never reported as missing. It was replaced on Monday, July 28.
Utah residents can report road problems to UDOT through their website, including issues with traffic signals, road conditions and debris, and missing or damaged signs.
Utah Highway Patrol told ABC4 that, since last July, there have been 64 crashes in this intersection. The worst month was November, in which there were nine crashes. However, it is not clear how the number of crashes at 4100 S and Redwood compares to other similarly travelled intersections.
