The GTP made the announcement at 10 a.m. on July 30 in the St. Francis Community Board Room at the GTP offices located at 719 South Kansas Avenue. A recording of the live announcement will be added to this article shortly.
Former GTP CEO Matt Pivarnik stepped down from his position on May 18, 2025. He left the organization for a role as president and CEO of the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce in South Carolina.
The GTP announced it was searching for a new CEO to replace Pivarnik in April. The GTP worked together with Winner Partners of St. Petersburg, Florida and local figures such as Washburn University President JuliAnn Mazachek to conduct the search.
Mazachek said that after months of review, the GTP has selected Molly Howey as the next CEO. She is the current president of GO Topeka.
“After an exhaustive national search and review of truly incredible talent, it became clear that the right leader for this moment is someone who already knows this community and has helped shape its momentum,” Mazachek said. “Molly is a proven leader. Her track record of successes in her role as President of GO Topeka, her deep commitment to Topeka’s continued progress and growth, along with her nearly 15 years of dedication to this organization make her distinctively qualified to take the helm.”
Howey is a graduate of Washburn University and the Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute, according to the GTP. She currently serves on the boards of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), Team Kansas, The Oklahoma University Economic Development Institute along with several local and regional community organizations.

I look forward to working with our partners, businesses, and community leaders to build on the strong foundation we’ve created and continue shaping a vibrant future for this region.”
