Homeless woman stabbed repeatedly
A man who told police he had long thought about killing someone has been arrested and charged in connection with a brutal assault early Sunday morning at a park in Brooklyn Center.
Logan Anthony Seitz, 20, of Brooklyn Center, is charged with one count of first-degree attempted murder after he allegedly followed a woman from a gas station to a nearby park and stabbed her repeatedly.
According to a criminal complaint, Seitz called 911 around 2 a.m. to report that he had stabbed a “homeless woman” at Willow Lane Park. When officers got to the scene, they found Seitz with blood on his hands, knees and arms. Seitz allegedly told police he had stabbed the woman “around 20 times” and “enjoyed it.”
The victim was “barely able to speak” and had five to 10 stab wounds around her upper body. She told police the assailant was a “young man who lived nearby,” the complaint states.
In statements to police, Seitz said he had “always thought about killing people” since he was about 10 years old and “never had the right opportunity to do it.” He also said he “would shoot up a school” if he had a gun.
The night of the assault, Seitz said he brought a knife to a gas station near his home and scouted out the right person to kill. He settled on a woman sitting on a nearby bench because she was alone and followed her before joining her and walking with her to the park.
After talking with the woman for a while, Seitz allegedly told her he was going to kill her and proceeded to stab her until “she was no longer screaming,” the complaint states.
The charging document adds that Seitz told an officer he “did not feel bad about” the stabbing and “really hoped she died.” The complaint notes that he “became very upset” when he learned the victim might survive and generally lacked remorse about what he allegedly had done.
Seitz remains in custody on $2 million bail and is due to appear in court Tuesday afternoon.
