DALLAS (KDAF) — It’s no secret that job seekers in 2025 are incredibly discerning, quickly seeking out what they love about a job listing before choosing to apply or not. But what are the red flags Texas job seekers screen for?

To uncover America’s biggest job listing misgivings, the team at Adobe Acrobat surveyed over 1,000 job seekers and hiring managers to uncover the top turn-offs for Texas candidates.

In Texas, nearly a third won’t apply to a job if a cover letter is required, and over half won’t if a salary range isn’t listed. Their top turn-off phrases are “wears many hats” (35%), “rockstar” (33%), and “high-energy” (31%), and without medical insurance (66%), paid time off (65%), or flexible working arrangements (52%), Texans might not consider applying for a job.
