MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – Law enforcement is responding to reports of an active shooter at a skyscraper in Midtown Manhattan Monday evening, according to sources.
Multiple people were reportedly shot on the 32nd floor of the building, sources say. The incident happened in the lobby of Blackstone, according to the Mayor’s office.
There is an active shooter situation; the building was being evacuated as of 7 p.m. A police officer and at least two civilians were shot, according to sources.
At 7:13 p.m., Mayor Adams confirmed on X that an active shooter investigation was taking place in Midtown.
The NYPD is urging pedestrians to avoid the area around East 52nd Street between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.
An individual was taken to a local hospital in cardiac arrest, according to an EMS source.
