Melville man escapes police by stealing city vehicle, driving off

MELVILLE, La. (KLFY) — Melville Police are looking for a man who eluded arrest and escaped in a city vehicle, authorities said.

Joseph Harrington Jr., of Melville, is wanted on charges of simple burglary, theft, illegal possession of stolen items and resisting arrest.

Officials said Harrington was found by police passed out on the ground before he woke up and ran off. He later returned, stole a city vehicle and drove away.

No other details were released.

Harrington is still at large. Anyone with information his whereabouts is asked to call the Melville Police Department 337-592-4807 or 337-623-5777.
