Jenay Mize seeking re-election for Baxter County Treasurer

Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize announced she will seek re-election as a Republican when the filing period opens in November.

Mize, first elected in 2012, is currently serving her 13th year in office. Her professional background includes 16 years as treasurer and general business manager for the Norfork School District, and a decade as an accountant for the Baxter Bulletin.

Since 2018, Mize has served on the Arkansas County Treasurers’ Association Continuing Education Board, where she helps provide continuing education opportunities for county treasurers statewide.

Since taking office in 2013, Mize has worked to modernize the Treasurer’s Office through the use of technology and has emphasized transparency in county finances. She uses platforms such as Clear Gov and the county’s website to provide public access to budgets, financial reports, distributions and audit information.

Mize said she works closely with other county officials to ensure efficient operations throughout Baxter County government.

“There are so many pieces of County Government that must work together as a team to accomplish shared goals. I’m blessed to be a part of such an incredible team,” Mize said.

She noted that county government is constantly evolving and that staying up to date on new laws passed by the state legislature is critical.

“It is truly an honor to serve the citizens of Baxter County as their Treasurer,” Mize added. “I’m grateful for the continued support of the community.”

Mize and her husband live south of Mountain Home.
