MILLARD COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — The Millard County Sheriff has released the identities of the three individuals found dead in Flowell, Utah on July 24.

They were identified as Jay Dean Stevens, 28, Colleen F. Halsey, 68, and 23-month-old Harper Helena Stevens.

According to a social media post by Millard Sheriff, both adults died of apparent gunshot wounds, and a gun consistent with the wounds was found on the scene. Investigators currently believe that Jay Stevens killed Colleen Halsey, his grandmother, and evidence suggests that Jay’s death was self-inflicted.

The cause of death for Harper Stevens, Jay’s daughter, is currently unknown pending autopsy results.

“This incident rises to every level of tragedy. We are broken hearted for family members who mourn these losses as they yet prepare for memorial services,” the sheriff’s office wrote on social media. “We ask all to respect their privacy and feelings. We also ask for continued patience and understanding as we continue to investigate towards an explanation of the event in so far as one can be reached.”

The sheriff’s office also stated that they are aware that there is a lot of speculation going on about this incident, and they have asked that they be allowed to finish their investigation.
