The San Francisco Police Department is investigating five similar unprovoked attacks that began in July. Each attack was inflicted by a group of girls with similar suspect descriptions, police said.
The most recent attack happened in broad daylight on Saturday afternoon along 4th Street. Two victims were assaulted by “several juvenile females,” SFPD wrote. “Bystanders stepped in to stop the attack, which caused the suspects to flee the scene on foot.”
SFPD officers from the Real Time Investigation Center found surveillance video and disseminated images of the suspects to officers on patrol. Undercover officers spotted several of the girls at Stonestown Galleria and detained the group.
After the group was questioned, officers arrested a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl on suspicion of assault likely to produce great bodily injury. An 11-year-old girl was detained and “admonished,” because of her youthful age, SFPD said. All of the girls were released to their parents.
The investigation remains open and active. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at 415-575-4444.
