Strong to severe storms Monday night

A Forecast First ALERT remains in effect through tonight.

Powerful storms are expected to fire up across the Dakotas and race into western and southern Minnesota during the late evening and early overnight hours. These storms could pack a punch, with damaging wind gusts over 75 mph, torrential rain, and the possibility of large hail or an isolated tornado.

The exact timing and track of these storms will be difficult to determine until the line fully develops, but the greatest concern lies between 9 p.m. and 3 a.m. If you’re in a warning area tonight, don’t wait to act—these storms will move fast.

Have multiple ways to receive warnings tonight, and stay weather-aware.
