Body of minor recovered from Licking River in Wilder

WILDER, Ky. (FOX 56) — The body of a minor was recovered from the Licking River early Tuesday morning, according to Wilder police.

According to a release, police confirmed that rescue crews were called around 4:15 p.m. on Monday after receiving word about a possible drowning.

Witnesses claimed that, around halfway across, the minor began struggling before going underwater and never resurfacing.

In the release, the body was pulled from the river around 5:45 a.m. after a search that spanned over 13 hours. The minor was said to have tried to swim from the Covington side of the river to Wilder to join two others swimming in the river.

Due to the drowning victim’s age, no additional information will be released at this time.
