Barksdale AFB welcomes new commander, Col. Chris Cain

BARKSDALE AIR FORCE BASE, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — It was a day of celebration at Hoban Hall on the morning of July 28, as Barksdale Air Force Base (BAFB) welcomed a new 2nd Bomb Wing Commander.

Colonel Chris Cain, a Bossier City native, was named the new Wing Commander, following the leadership of Colonel Michael Maginess.

Col. Maginess and Col. Cain have known each other for more than twenty years and served together at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota prior to their return to BAFB.

“Having worked with Colonel Maginess for so many years, we’ve known each other for over two decades. And I know he left things in a great state,” shared Col. Cain when asked how he felt taking over the position of Wing Commander after Col. Maginess.

“Just excited! I’m ready to get to work and serve our airmen here. We’ve got a great command team in place. And we look forward to all the partnerships we’re going to have in the community in the next couple of years ahead,” Col. Cain also shared.

Following the Change in Command ceremony, a retirement ceremony was held for Colonel Maginess, celebrating his retirement after more than twenty years of service in the U.S. Air Force.
