2nd arrest made in NC cold case over a decade after woman fatally stabbed, police say

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — A second arrest has been made in a Greensboro cold case after a woman was killed over a decade ago, according to a Greensboro Police Department news release.

Roy Carnell Brown II, 33, was served with an order for arrest from a grand jury indictment for first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon and first-degree kidnapping in connection to the death of 72-year-old Mildred “Miss Mickey” Martin in 2013.

A Guilford County grand jury indicted Brown on June 2, 2025, and the order for arrest was served on Monday.

Brown had a first appearance in court on Monday and remains in the North Carolina Department of Corrections on unrelated charges.

Brown knew Martin when he was in foster care, the release says.

In February 2025, Jason Lamont Bailey, 35, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon in connection to the death of Martin.

Martin was killed in her home and found more than a day later, police say.

On Oct. 8, 2013, Police found a 2012 white Mazda 6 abandoned at the corner of Elm Street and McCulloch Street in Greensboro.

They tracked the owner, Martin, to her home in Greensboro on Hyalyn Court off Alamance Church Road.

Police believe Martin was killed on Oct. 8 between 3 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

She was stabbed multiple times.
