STANFORD, Ky. (FOX 56) — A Louisville man is facing numerous charges after he reportedly held an elderly man against his will during a home break-in early Monday in Stanford.

A man, later identified as Tai Doram, 33, had escaped from a Lincoln County deputy earlier that same morning, according to an arrest citation. After an unsuccessful search, the Stanford Police Department began patrolling the area, where they learned a man matching Doram’s description was in the area of the 100 block of Shea Villa Court.

Around 4:20 a.m., the police arrived at the home where a man was on the front porch, the citation noted. He told authorities he was out on the porch for a little bit and had heard a commotion in the backyard but did not go look.

After not finding anything in the backyard, the police said the man told them an African-American man he didn’t know got out of a car in front of the home, and he asked who he was.

Authorities said that, after knocking on the door, one man said, “Come on in,” and then another man shouted, “Get the hell out of the way,” prompting the police to force their way in. An elderly man slowly came down the hall with his hands up, while the other man was found trying to escape out of the front window in the bedroom.

He was arrested and positively identified as Doram, according to the police. The other man said that, after answering a knock on the door, Doram forced him back into the home.

  • First-degree criminal abuse
  • First-degree unlawful imprisonment
  • Resisting arrest

Court records show he was arraigned Monday morning.
