LDWF releases deer hunting schedule for upcoming season

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Deer hunting season is fast approaching in Louisiana and hunters now know when they will be able to head into the woods this year.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries released the deer hunting schedule for 2025-2026.

The schedule is broken down for archery, primitive firearms, firearms for still-hunt only and firearms with or without dogs. There are ten areas for hunters to use in the state.

Archers will be able to head into the woods first in some areas beginning on Sept. 20, 2025.

Deer hunting season will conclude for archers and primitive firearm users in certain areas on Jan. 31, 2026.

Before you head out, LDWF provided the updated hunting and WMA regulations for this season.
