Brace yourself for a very hot afternoon. Highs are expected to reach near 100 degrees, and if we hit that mark, we’ll tie the daily record set back in 1993. Due to the intense humidity, a Heat Advisory is in effect. Heat index values — what it actually feels like outside — will soar between 105 and 110 degrees in some locations. Be sure to stay hydrated and limit time outdoors during peak afternoon hours.
The heat sticks around on Tuesday, with highs in the upper 90s once again. However, there’s some relief in sight — isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon and evening, offering a brief cool-down for parts of the area.
Looking ahead, a shift in the pattern is on the way. A weakening high-pressure system and an approaching frontal boundary will bring some much-needed relief. Expect cooler temperatures to arrive by the weekend, with highs returning to the much more manageable 80s.
Stay safe and cool!
