Baxter County, Mountain Home Sales Tax Revenue See Gains in May

Sales tax revenue for Baxter County and the City of Mountain Home showed increases in the latest report from the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, which reflects local spending during the month of May.
According to Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize, county sales tax collections were up 6% over the same month last year, an increase of $30,848.28. It marks the highest single month of collections so far in 2025.

The 0.25% county jail sales tax also saw gains, up $13,541.01 compared to May 2024. Year-to-date, county sales tax collections are up 1.6%, or $56,708.83, while jail tax revenue is up $24,892.66.

Mize also reported that sales tax revenue is now exceeding projections used for budgeting. The county portion is 0.8% above projection, or $27,649.91, and jail sales tax is 0.2% above projection, or $2,646.99.

Additionally, the Baxter County Airport reported an increase in revenue compared to this time last year.
