Tanker spills 52,000 gallons of milk in Ohio crash

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) — One person was transported after a tanker crashed and spilled 52,000 gallons of milk on State Route 279 in Ohio Sunday afternoon.

Authorities told 13 News that the crash was in the 1700 block of SR-279 and was reported around 1:40 p.m. SR-279 is currently shut down between Centerpoint Road and Cherry Fork Road.

The crash is said to have involved a tanker truck and another vehicle. One person was reportedly transported with one other person being assessed. Authorities said no one is dead at this time.

Besides spilling milk, the tanker is also believed to have spilled a bit of fuel.

The Ohio Department of Transportation has detours set up for those traveling through the area.

Jackson County Dispatch said members of the Madison-Jefferson and Wellston Fire Departments were on scene alongside HAZMAT, Ohio State Highway Patrol and EMS.
