The event, titled “Brunch and Pups,” is being hosted by Dogs Without Borders,
“This event is all about giving these wonderful dogs a second chance at a loving home,” said Chloe Lawrence, CEO of Dogs Without Borders. “Each adoption makes a huge difference in reducing shelter overcrowding and spreading joy to families!”
Some of the dogs expected to attend include:
Ozzy
Ozzy is a spunky pup rescued from euthanasia with an old leg injury that required amputation. Now a happy, three-legged dog, Ozzy gets along well with people and other dogs. He’s expected to be a large dog once fully grown and has a playful, loving personality.
Schnouzie
A terrier mix with a calm and affectionate demeanor, Schnouzie is house trained, intelligent, and very responsive to training. He does well with both people and dogs and enjoys a mix of playtime, training, and naps. He’s described as a dream companion with an adaptable nature.
Dream
Dream is a low-maintenance dog who gets along with children and other dogs. She is potty trained, knows how to sit, and can be left alone when needed. Equally content lounging at home or strolling through the neighborhood, Dream is considered a well-balanced fit for most families.
Gidget
Sweet and spirited, Gidget is affectionate with everyone she meets and known for her adorable oinks while sleeping. Though she needs ongoing leash training, Gidget is crate and potty trained and enjoys off-leash play. Her playful, protective personality makes her a devoted and entertaining companion.
Petunia
A gentle and loving Frenchie, Petunia is affectionate and enjoys calm walks and cozy naps. She is working on basic obedience and potty training. Due to a slightly misaligned spine and hip, she will need an adopter willing to manage her long-term physical needs. She does best with older children.
Tuxedo
Tuxedo is a black-and-white Chihuahua mix weighing around 12 pounds. He’s affectionate, playful, and curious, though initially shy with strangers. Tuxedo loves dogs but prefers to be the alpha. He’s house trained, learning basic commands, and improving with leash use. He thrives on human companionship and dislikes being crated.
Rusty
Rusty is the largest of his litter and known for his goofy, affectionate nature. He’s mellow, food motivated, and loves belly rubs. Abandoned at a shelter with his littermates, Rusty is now gaining strength and growing steadily. He’s expected to be medium-sized when fully grown and is described as easygoing and trainable.
Tommy
Tommy is a young puppy with a calm temperament and an eagerness to learn. He’s making good progress with potty training and sleeps through the night. While playful—especially with his brother Travis—Tommy is gentle, shares well, and bonds easily with people. He’s considered well-rounded and suitable for many types of homes.
Travis
Travis is energetic, playful, and affectionate. Like his brother Tommy, he was rescued without a mother and is thriving in foster care. He loves wrestling, fetch, and cuddling. Though initially shy, he forms deep bonds with people and is learning quickly, including potty training and toy sharing.
Jellybean
A 6-month-old puppy with a sweet and curious nature, Jellybean enjoys cuddles and has a lot of energy. She is still working on her leash, obedience, and potty skills but is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped. She’s ready for a home that will continue her training and give her lots of love.
Organizers note that the list of dogs attending is subject to change depending on adoption status. Those interested in adopting should come prepared with a completed adoption application and a video tour of their home in order to be eligible for an in-person interview.
Kim Weinstein, the organization’s foster coordinator, said the event aims to bring people and pets together in a joyful, relaxed setting. “We’re so excited to bring our community together in Marina del Rey to celebrate these amazing pups and help them find their perfect match,” she said.
Dogs Without Borders cautions that adoption is highly competitive across Southern California, and placement decisions are made with the dogs’ best interests in mind. Response times to applications or emails may take up to four business days due to current demand.
The Marina del Rey brunch event offers a relaxed waterfront setting to meet adoptable dogs while enjoying a meal outdoors.
