According to the GLO, the event will take place this Monday, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m, at 1424 Martin Luther King Jr. Lane. The celebrations will feature keynote speakers – including Texas Land Commissioner and VLB Chairwoman Dawn Buckingham, M.D., and Tony Dale, Executive Secretary of the VLB.
The event will commemorate the William R. Courtney Texas State Veterans Home’s commitment to serving Veterans in the Temple community. Refreshments and desserts will be served.
The GLO says the Texas State Veterans Home is named after William R. “Bill” Courtney, who served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He rose from the rank of Private to First Lieutenant in the 10th Mountain Infantry Division stationed in Italy.
