Naji Wiggins, 21, was killed in what the Huntsville Police Department said was a robbery attempt.
The grand jury indictments name Chauncey Devon Smith, 27, and Alazia Harris, 21, who
are both from Selma.
The Huntsville Police Department says Smith was also shot the night Wiggins was killed. He was arrested after being treated at the hospital.
The indictments say Smith and Harris were trying to take property from Wiggins, and both were armed. The indictment doesn’t say if one or both of them fired their weapons.
Court records show Smith currently has a Nov. 17 trial date. Harris’s next court appearance is Sept. 4, but she does not have a trial date listed. On Friday, the judge in Harris’ case ordered the state to say within 14 days if prosecutors will seek the death penalty for Harris.
Court records don’t indicate if the state plans to seek the death penalty for Smith.
