PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A 52-year-old man was convicted Friday for assaulting and killing his mother, according to the Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney.

Reginald English was found guilty of first-degree murder of his mother, 72-year-old Lorena Royster.

According to court documents, on April 3, 2024, English handcuffed, assaulted and fatally stabbed his mother in their home in Bladensburg.

He is set to be sentenced on Nov. 12, where he faces up to life in prison.

“This verdict reaffirms our commitment to seeking justice for victims and holding people accountable for their actions,” said Interim State’s Attorney Tara Jackson.

“Crimes that occur within families are especially troubling and difficult to understand. We hope that this conviction will bring a measure of peace to Ms. Royster’s family and loved ones who have suffered because of this tragedy. We would like to thank our attorneys and law enforcement partners for their tireless efforts in prosecuting this case and bringing justice to this family.”
