Pedestrian struck, killed by South Shore train in Gary

GARY, Ind. — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a South Shore train Thursday morning in Gary.

The alert was posted at 6:10 a.m., saying that two trains, #112 and #114, were canceled for Thursday due to a pedestrian strike.

Thursday evening, authorities identified the victim as 55-year-old Christopher Jones of New Buffalo, Michigan.

SkyCam9 flew above the scene.

Autopsy results are pending.
