On Thursday, July 24, officers responded to a possible kidnapping of a four-year-old child. Authorities learned that the toddler was in the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services but was staying with a relative when their mother, 30-year-old Haley Ervin, went to the relative’s residence and took her child without permission.
The next day, detectives and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office used a search warrant at a residence in Rowan County where the child and Ervin were found, officials said.
Arrest records show Ervin was booked into the Iredell County Jail without bond for first-degree kidnapping. Officials said the four-year-old was returned to the custody of the Iredell County Department of Social Services.
