Missing 73-year-old DC man found dead in Maryland

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. police said that a 73-year-old man was found dead almost one month after he was reported missing.

On June 24, family members reported that Frankie Jones Sr. was missing. He was last seen that day, leaving his home in Southwest, D.C.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that the person who reported him missing also noted that he had Alzheimer’s.

MPD listed Jones as a Critical Missing Person and shared a flier with his photo. Officers searched the surrounding area over the following weeks using many tools, including MPD’s drone.

On July 21, officials reported that human remains had been found during a search of a wooded area in Oxon Hill, Md.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the remains as Jones.

The cause and manner of death have yet to be determined, but investigators said that no foul play is suspected.
