Ky. Governor urges President Trump to oppose blocking cannabis rescheduling

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) — Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear is urging President Trump to oppose a move that would block the DEA from re-scheduling cannabis.

Governor Beshear sent a letter asking President Trump to reject language in a federal spending bill that would stop the DEA from re-classifying cannabis as a “schedule 3 drug.”

He says the change would give patients safer access to medical cannabis and allow for more research.

Congress recently passed a measure that would ban the justice department from using funds to make that change.
