WOODBRIDGE, Va. (DC News Now) — The Prince William County Police Department is searching for a Woodbridge mother accused of leaving her two-year-old son alone for an extended period.

Police said Alexandra Anna Granruth, 37, is being sought on a felony child neglect charge.

According to police, officers responded Wednesday around 9 p.m. to reports of a found child in the 4000 block of Dawson Beach Road in Woodbridge.

An initial investigation discovered that Granruth had contacted an acquaintance around 2 p.m. to watch her son for the evening, who was found in an “unkempt state” alone outside the home.

However, Granruth never came home that evening, resulting in the acquaintance notifying the police. Officers attempted to contact her, but she refused to return.

Police said the toddler appeared unharmed and was turned over to “known parties.”

Granruth is described as a white woman with blond hair and blue eyes, 5’9” tall, and weighing 165 pounds.
