MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Two teenagers were arrested and another person is being sought in connection with an attempted strong-arm carjacking in Bethesda, according to the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Police said on Saturday, May 24, officers received a call from a rideshare driver who was punched while three people attempted to steal her gray Toyota RAV4 as she dropped them off in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike.

Police posted the surveillance footage of the incident on social media, and community members identified two of the three suspects. On Tuesday, July 22, a 14-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were arrested for their involvement.

The two were charged with attempted carjacking, second-degree assault, and conspiracy to commit carjacking. Police referred the case to the Department of Juvenile Services, and both teens were released back to their parents.
