Kevin Brent Buchanan, 63, is accused of sending threats to a D.C.-based advocacy organization in Nov. 2023 that included anti-Muslim rhetoric. Using his own cellular phone, he called and left five messages with the organization.
“Your families are going to be followed and watched. You don’t even belong in America. I hope every Muslim in the United States [expletive] croaks,” Buchanan stated, according to court documents.
According to the U.S. Department of Justice, Buchanan admitted that he intentionally targeted the organization because the staff and members were Palestinian, and because they advocate on behalf of Palestinians.
“You are all going to [expletive] die, you pieces of [expletive] traitors,” Buchanan continued.
Buchanan’s sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 18, 2025. He faces up to five years in federal prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.
The case was investigated by the FBI Washington Field Office. Led by Sanjay Patel of the Civil Rights Division’s Criminal Section, U.S. Attorneys Timothy Visser, and Joshua Gold are prosecuting the case.
